Unable to enlarge vdisk on PowerEdge R740 with PERC H740P
I have a Dell PowerEdge R740 with a PERC H740P with a RAID10 vdisk with 4 x 837.75 GB drives. This works fine. I installed three new 837.75 GB drives and they appear in my Physical Disk Configuration in my Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 9 environment.
When I try to resize the VDISK using the Virtual Disk Configuration I get the following error:
STOR006: Unable to complete the operation. Retry the operation. If the issue persists, contact your service provider.
Two drives (0:4 and 0:5) have the hotspare status 'unassigned' and the third one (0:6) has the status 'assigned'.
What am I doing wrong? I am not a RAID/hardware specialist.
Thanks in advance.

Hello
I'm not sure what you are attempting. It sounds like you have a RAID 10 and you are wanting to add two more disks to the RAID 10. If that is what you are trying to do, it is not possible. The H740 only supports RAID 10 capacity expansion. If there is available space on all of the disks in a RAID 10 you can expand the capacity to include that space. You cannot add more disks to the RAID 10. You can review reconfigure starting and target RAID levels in the OpenManage Server Administrator Storage manual.

Thanks

Since there is conflicting information I tested. I was able to add two disks to a RAID 10 on an H740P, so it appears the OMSA storage manual is incorrect. I will put in a request to update the documentation.
Thanks
