Hi,

1. I am currently using 5 Dell PowerEdge R720xd server (Processor : Intel Xenon) to setup cluster nodes from my Main server which have DHCP server (IPv6 only), complete pxe setup for pxe boot of all the dell nodes.

2. Dell PowerEdge R720xd server do not support pxe over IPv6.

Kindly suggests how to solve this issue.

After you change it to UEFI boot mode restart and go back into system BIOS. Then you should be able to enter boot settings. You will then need to use the scroll bar on the right to scroll down to see the IPV4/IPV6 option.

I just tested this on one of my R720XDs, and the instructions in the guide are correct.

Thanks

Hello

IPV6 PXE support was added to 12G servers with a BIOS update:

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your reply.

I followed the instruction to enable IPv6 on NIC given at page 9 in the white paper but no success.

1. Instruction given in PDF is:

Go to System BIOS --> Boot Settings --> UEFI Boot Settings.

2. In my Dell Server instruction are:

System BIOS --> Boot Settings --> BIOS  or  UEFI

3. Here both option is given as a radio button. we have to select either of them. If I select "BIOS" then BIOS Boot settings option is enabled but UEFI Boot settings is grayed out and  if I select "UEFI" then both BIOS Boot settings as well as UEFI  Boot settings options are grayed out.

4.  I still selected UEFI radio button --> rebooted the machine  --> selected F11 to enter UEFI BOOT Manager --> UEFI BOOT --> Selected the one of the NIC --> It displayed the message "Start PXE over IPv4"

My Dell Server BIOS version is 2.2.3

Kindly suggest.

Warm Regards,

Ankit
