t420 with 4 drives 2 offline witih smart errors h310 raid 5
wondering if it is worth trying to rebuild array (still bootable) with one of these offline drives or if I should just order a new drive...

Hello
If the drives have SMART errors then they are predictive failure. The SMART on the disk will produce errors once a threshold of bad blocks has been crossed. I would not attempt to rebuild a predictive failure drive into a virtual disk.
