vFlash health critical

I got a vFlash card, but I don't seem to be able to do anything with it.

When I highlight "Initialize vFlash" and hit nothing happens.

Any idea on what's going on and how to fix it?

System is a T610 with iDrac6 enterprise.

On same iDRAC GUI, if you click on System, you can see vFlash on the top navigation bar. There you should be getting options to initialize vFlash

Can you access iDRAC GUI and try to initialize the vFlash SD card?

Which GUI are you referring to?

I can see that the vFlash is there, but I cannot do anything in the below Web GUI.

I looked in https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/poweredge-t610/drivers  selecting "System Management", but there are at least 2 dozen downloads, and it's not obvious to me which one(s) is(are) needed.

TIA

Hi, it would be helpful to spend time with this link

You can also used for “Boot from image using vFlash in Dell PowerEdge Servers” , please see below.

Thanks, it worked that way, and things look much better now.

Though I'm not sure why "Size" is still 0 MB with 15261 MB "Available Space" on the card....    I presume that's just a 'feature'.

Hi did you add that SD card (vFLASH) later on or was it already installed when you purchased the server? Is it 16GB? That feature only activates on idrac enterprise license. it might be not work with a fancy ones such as SDXD. Hope this helps your understanding.

Both iDrac6 enterprise and the vFlash cards are from eBay, and they were purchased separately.  I bought the server locally (they are bit heavy, so shipping can be expensive), and it didn't have iDrac at all.   (I checked it, and it shipped without one from Dell)

Hi, since the SD memory was shipped separately, the rough idea for troubleshooting would be doing a swap test with another iDRAC or  try other iDRAC firmware version. Hope this helps your understanding.

Hi,

Most of iDRAC vFlash card has a DPN# on it. You have it on hand? Have you tried copying some files into the vFlash card to check if the size info has any effect?
