Brand new Dell R730 - inaccessible_boot_device
Installed Windows Updates and several roles + features on my brand new R730.
Rebooted the server; now it is stuck in a reboot loop.
OS is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, preinstalled by Dell.
I have reached out to Dell Enterprise Support and they were able to confirm that they have seen the issue on other systems over the past couple of days but were not able to provide a remedy other than reinstalling the OS.
I am very hesitant on doing that because it doesn't fix the problem. If I were to reinstall, another windows update round would result in the same issue. This is not a production system so reinstalling is definitely an option, but I need to have this system at a customer's site as soon as possible.
I have tried all the remediation techniques outlined after the June 2014 KB2919355 issue but so far nothing has worked.
Any suggestions from you guys?

Hot fix was the first thing I tried. No success.
Microsoft in their infinite wisdom removed system restore from 2012, and I have no system image as this was literally a fresh out of the box system.
I'm about ready to reinstall, but will lose all of the Dell OEM stuff. Not to mention using another of my windows server licenses...

Devin.Kuhn,
As you stated this is an issue with the 2919355 part of the Windows Update. What I would suggest is to boot to the OS media and see if you can repair or restore the OS. That would revert the drivers back to the "pre-update" state, or if you have a system image you could load from. If you can get the drivers back then when you configure the updates, just don't allow that specific one to run.
Also, when you stated you performed the steps, did you also try the hotfix provided by Microsoft as well?

Without the ability to repair then it is likely that you have to reinstall, which should NOT count against your licenses. You can maintain the license that was with the server previously. As it is based on a single instance, not a single install. So you can reinstall the OS and maintain the licenses sole existence. The Dell stuff you were referring to also should be located in a small recovery partition on the server, are you seeing the Utility/Recovery partition?
Lastly, the OS install should be straight forward, if you go through the OS Deploy feature of the Lifecycle Controller (F10).

You can't restore the factory OS with that partition ... you will need to use Windows media to reinstall
