Is there a Windows Server 2012 option as OS somewhere in the options for t420?
I just got my PowerEdge t420, this is my first tower server, actually my first "real" server for that matter as before i just used an old pc to run all my needed tasks in the network.
I found out just few minutes ago that i should install the OS through F10 (Lifecycle controller), so i clocked "deploy OS", but i can't find a "Microsoft Windows Server 2012", should i then click "Any other operating system" or am i doing something wrong? I know it supports MW Server 2012 as i had an option to buy a pre-installed Server 2012 OS, but i decided to get it clean so i can learn from the core on how to get it started up, but i just seem to not find the option.
Appreciate the reply

Actually, without going into detail, the 2012 option was removed from the LC with the latest driver packs (v7.2.0), it will be re-added in early April with the 7.2.1 version of the OS driver packs (not SUU)

The onboard lifecycle controller probably does not yet have support for 2012. The latest version of SMTD (I believe 7.2) does ... or it might be easier to simply install from the 2012 media.

just so there is no confusion, the version of the LC firmware doesnt matter, its the version of the driver pack that matters. Still, its a few hundred MBs to download. I agree with flash, try just installig using the OS media, if it doesnt recognize the hard drives, then yes, dngrade the driver packs, or grab this iso, burn it to a disc and boot from it to do the installation:

"it might be easier to simply install from the 2012 media"
... especially in comparison with trying to 'downgrade' your LC.

Hmm, as far as i know, i thought that you then wouldnt have raid 1 by just installing it outside of the lc

You can configure RAID 1 manually through the controller's BIOS utility (probably CTRL-R). Which RAID controller came with your system?
