Netware 5.0 and SATA

I have been trying to install Netware 5.0 on a PE 1800 for the last week. I can not get Netware to detect my SATA drive. Should I return the SATA drive for a SCSI?

Thanks,

doug

Doug,

Netware 5.0 is a legacy operating system and has no support for SATA.  Currenlty Dell is only validating Netware 6.5 on currently shipping operating systems. It is very unlikely that Netware 5.0 will install on this server regardless on the type of hard drives installed.

I have a 1800 Poweredge server and was assured by my account manager that Netware 5.1 would install on it ok.

on the product page for the 1800 it states that Netware 5.1 is validated but not factory installed.

I am running the SCSI version, and as soon as the netware installation tries to load the ATA drivers or the LSI drivers (i have the exact LSI drivers) the server hangs

anyone offer any suggestions?

John

Use the Netware 5.1, sp8 overlay to install.
