PowerEdge 2600 and installation of Windows Server 2008 - BSOD

Hi there everyone,

I'm having a lot of trouble installing Win Server 2008 (x86 - 6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_en-us-KRMSFRE_EN_DVD) on an older PowerEdge 2600 system.

I've flashed the ROMs and BIOS to the latest and supported (by WS 2800) versions, I've configured the RAID controller (RAID 5, with all the drives active, idle, but active) and I even see the 1 logical drive being handled by BIOS message just before boot.

But then when I boot the WS 2K8 DVD I see the "Windows copying files" progress and then the colorful bars going from left to right, however, then they freeze and I suddenly I see a blue screen with this STOP code:

STOP: 0x00000124 (0x00000003,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000)

I have no idea how to get rid of that and manage to install the OS.

I never saw the system running, I got it second-hand from a company that upgraded their server line and after I installed it in the rack I tried to install the OS, but I always get this error.

Booting a MS DOS diskette is fine, DOS starts up fine, but the strange thing is, I don't see a C: drive. It might be correct, I'm not that experienced with the PERC controllers and the way they handle logical drives etc... so, it might be allright, but I don't really know. I tried to follow every procedure I found on the internet, but the BSOD is still there.

Any help will be greatly appretiated!

Thanks a lot in advance, best

- Lukas
