Replacement Hard Drive For T110 II

Hi.

My hard drive crashed on a T110 II that was hardly used so I'd like to repurpose it. I'd like to replace the hard drive and convert it to Windows 10 or LINUX .. either would be very useful for me. I had already added sound and video cards.

Can someone recommend a hard drive, I have found many on amazon like

Hitachi 3TB 7200RPM 3.5" Desktop SATA Hard Drive for PC

thanks

The T110II also had support for solid state drives. If you're wanting to repurpose the server for more of a desktop experience, you could look into that. I would think that you could probably find good deals on the drives that were validated with the system, considering they'd be a few years old now.

I did find this, what do you think?

Seagate FireCuda 2TB Solid State Hybrid Drive Performance SSHD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s Flash Accelerated for Gaming PC Laptop

though I don't care about the gaming.

thanks

Make sure to use the drive on the onboard SATA controller, in SATA/AHCI mode. Do NOT put this on a Dell RAID controller, whether the onboard S100 or an add-in controller - it is a poor choice for servers/RAID.

I agree with Flash about not getting this. The RAID controllers can be a bit finnicky with unvalidated drives, and I've never had a good experience with SSD/HDD hybrids. I'd probably look at either a SATA HDD or a SATA SSD, depending on how much storage you need, exactly.

This is where I like to order parts for my older servers: https://www.serversupply.com/

thank you both for the responses. I have verified T110 II is in SATA/AHCI mode.

We can buy regular HDD's and SSD's for the PowerEdge T110 II like we would for an ordinary desktop, right?

Hi, for what I can tell you, there's no Dell certified part for this, I'm afraid.
