Teaming dual nic on PE 2850
Hello,
I'm having trouble teaming the two onboard intel pro 1000 nics. The Intel software that I can download won’t work because it first needs to install drivers ( dumb ) before it installs the management tool. Since these drivers are built with windows 7 and server 2008, intel software cannot find that they exist. It has Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard installed.
Any ideas on how I could get them to team?

We were able to team the nics by using suggestions posted in this thread: communities.intel.com/.../6529
In the thread mentioned, Aras posted: "Yes you CAN team Pro 1000 MT adapters. There is just a trick.
Download latest PROVISTAX64.exe & PROWIN7X64.exe from intel
Extract contents of both to separate directories.
Go to device manager and update drivers and select browse and point to the folder you had PROVISTAX64 extracted to (make sure seach subfolders is on) and the drivers will be updated.
Then go to the PROWIN7X64 directory/apps/prosetdx/win7_x64/ and run prosetdx.msi
Teaming will now be available. After you create a team allow it a minute to initialize before you assign a static IP."

Try this one - downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx
It is the 2008x64 version including ProSet, Proset is the teaming application you will need.

I tried the driver package that is found here: www.intel.com/.../cs-006120.htm but I receive an error message right off the bat saying the drivers can't be found.
I also tried the Broadcom BASP

I hope you are going for NIC fail-over, as a dual NIC teamed will not give you better performance (with Intels). If your after performance you need 4 ports to start to increase speed.

I'll try what you suggested. By teaming the NICs, I would like to increase the throughput and have failover capabilities

If you search carefully you can find papers of throughput on dual and quad teaming of Intel NICs, you get no throughput gain with duals, but quads you do get an appreciable gain.
