Powerpath/VE for vSphere Served licenses 5.4 > 5.9

So quick question that I couldn't find in the admin guide, best practices techbook or release notes. The documentation hints at "no" because it states that you should only use the license server installation that is packaged with the version of powerpath/ve. Can a 5.9 license server provide served licenses for hosts running Powerpath/VE 5.4 and/or 5.7? Thx

Jason - we are strongly recommending to deploy the latest Virtual Appliance as it has many license reporting and management features that are not available with the stand-alone license server. It can be found here: https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL53233_PowerPath-Virtual-Appliance-1.2-P05-(New-Deployment).zip

That said, the stand-alone license server will provide served licenses for hosts running Powerpath/VE 5.4 and/or 5.7

hi Jason - yes the PPVE 5.9 license server can provide served licenses for PPVE 5.4 and PPVE 5.7

See https://support.emc.com/docu50316_PowerPath-Virtual-Appliance-1.2-Release-Notes.pdf?language=en_US p. 6 for more information.

Thanks Bob... I'm looking at page 6 and I don't see a reference to the license server. Only discusses compatibility with the PowerPath Virtual Appliance.  I'm not sure this has answered my question :-)
