MD3000i and iSCSI name

I have an MD3000i that has not been "named" in MSDM. If I name it what will happen to currently connecting iSCSI initiators (two ESX servers)??

The pop-up you get when you click to save it says IO may/will be interrupted. I haven't really changed it while in production, but to play it safe I'd recommend to shut down your VMs before you rename it.
