Convert MD3260 to MD3060e

Can a MD3260 or MD3260i be converted to a MD3060e? Is the only difference between a MD3260/MD3260i and a MD3060e the controllers? So basically I have a MD3260i/MD3060e setup that will require expansion and I have some unused MD3260 and a MD3260i boxes that hopefully could be used for expanding my setup. I guess I cannot daisy chain a MD3260 to a MD3260i (or maybe I can?) so I was thinking about purchasing some MD3060e controllers and put them in one of my unused MD3260 box. Also I know that I will need a license to upgrade my 120 disks setup to a 180 disks setup so does anyone know how much this premium feature license cost?

Hello casfr,

You can us an MD3260i & convert it to a MD3060e. Now your MD3260i will not be supported as an MD3060e if there is an issue that happens.  You will need to reset your MD3260i back to factory settings. You will also need to get some MD3060e EMM’s & will need to make sure that all EMM’s are using the same firmware as your other MD3060e.

Premium features license can vary from customer to customer. It is best to contact your sales rep to see what your cost would be.
