HELP !!! PV128T change media to "cleaning media"
Hi,
Has anyone seen this strange set of symptoms and know of a way of fixing it?
Basically, the loader or O/S is incorrectly defining tapes as ' cleaning media' when clearly they are not.
Basically, the loader or O/S is incorrectly defining tapes as ' cleaning media' when clearly they are not.
So far we have taken following actions:
Cleaned all drives.
Updated firmwares.
Checked cabeling and termination of scsi-busses
Media used is from Hewlett&Packard.
Library and drives (3 x LTO) are connected to Adaptec 39160 SCSI controller. Server is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Windows Pro Service Pack 4 installed.
I insert new media, then ran Inventory. After Inventory my Unknown media --> "Cleaning media"
I Cannot to format, erase or change labe...
What can I do to fixt it?

I have exactly the same problem with 128T and Veritas 9.1 4691. Did anybody find a solution?
Thank you

I *may* have gotten the solution from technical support. I called and spoke with Charles, and he reccomended a couple of driver updates. First, our system was not running the Backup Exec drivers for the tape drive. He had me run Tapeinst.exe from the veritas\backup exec\nt directory to change from the OEM drivers to veritas' own drivers. Also, he had me update the drivers for our scsi adapter, as they were quite a few revisions old.
I have not seen the cleaning media issue resurface yet, however I have not had a chance to adequately test the system since the updates. He did however sound confident, and at this point I am feeling relatively optimistic about it!
