MD3000 alerts and snmp problem
Hello!
I have MD3000 Storage.
Its connected to PowerEdge NX1950 via SAS 5/E
on NX1950 installed:
Windows Server 2003 x64
Dell OpenManage Server Administrator
Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager
OMSA does see MD3000 connected and its disks and MDSM does it too.
The issue is here:
If I have problem on MD3000 I can see it in MDSM, but not in OMSA.
OMSA always shows that enclosure works fine.
SNMP requests to OMSA also shows that enclosure is in OK state. At the same time MDSM agent sends snmp trap with problem.
I dont have to fix OMSA (I dont need it at all) if snmp will work without it, but, as I understand, I need OMSA if I want snmp to work.
Thanks for any advice.

Kenvelo,
What you would need to verify, is the configuration of the management network. Here is a link that walks you through the process of setting up the SNMP Alerts. This is an external link but is pulled directly from user guide of MDSM.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I would be happy to assist.

Thankyou for answer.
I see how to configure snmp traps from MDSM, fnd it works just fine, but I want to use snmp requests from another server like snmpget and this doesnt work at all.
Actually it works, but says that evrething is allright event if storage is down.

In order to use the SNMP traps it needs to be done from a server that has MDSM. The reason is when you install MDSM it also installs the MIB files that is required for the SNMP to work properly.

But how can I send an snmp request to it.
I really didn't find any information about it.
It seems that MDSM provides snmp traps only.
