PV 220S on a R710

Hi, I have a PE2850 with a PV 220S (EMM Ultra 320M SCSI) connect to it with a Adaptec SCSI Card 39160/3960D - Ultra160 SCSI.

Now I must migrate the PV220S to a PE R710. Can I use a Adaptec 29320LPE as SCSI Card? http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/scsi/u320/asc-29320lpe/

Do you know if I have any other option? Thanks.

First off; the PV220S was never certified for a SCSI card, just SCSI raid controllers (e.g. PERC4/DC (PCI-X) or PERC4e/DC (PCIe)).

The R710 has been certified with Dell's LSI PCIe SCSI card, but not with any Adaptec cards or the PERC4e/DC. This doesn't mean it won't work, but there's no guarantee that it'll work or not.

As you're getting a new server, it's probably a good time to also pick up a new disk enclosure. If you want to stay with a Dell solution, Dell offers the MD1200 (can hold up to 12 3.5" SAS or SATA drives) or the MD1220 (can hold up to 24 2.5" drives). Both of these use a 2U chassis.

Good to know. I will probably get the new enclosure next year, budget issues.

At short time, If I get the LSI2032 SCSI I think I can connect the PV220S to the R710.

Thanks for your help and time.
