Physical Disk Bypassed

I have two disks in an MD3200i showing as being bypassed - slot 8 & slot 11.

I don't have any spare slots, so is it possible to determine whether the disks are the problem, or is it an problem with the enclosure?

Thanks,

Brian

Hello Brian,

Do the drives in slot 8 & 11 have a dell part# them or no? If they do have a dell part# on them, then we will need to look at a support bundle from your MD3200i. Do you have access to MDSM (Modular Disk Storage Manager), if so then you can gather the support bundle by selecting the MD3200i and then going to the tool tab.

If the drives don’t have a dell part# on them than that is the issue. As all drives that go into an MD3xxx & MD1xxx have to have a dell part# in order to be seen.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Sam,

Yes, the drives have a dell logo & dell part number on them - the drives were previously recognized and part of a virtual disk.

I have gathered the support bundle, but it exceeds to 1000 KB limit that I can attach to this post (it's 1076 KB)

Thanks,

Brian
