PowerVault 221 RAID question

I need 3 more RAIDs for my application.  RAID 0 - 2 disk, RAID 1 - 2 disks, and RAID 5 - 4 disks.  I ordered a PV 221 with split backplane and 8 - 36GB 15K 320's.    I want to attach it to a current PowerEdge 2600 running Win Server 2003 with internal split backplane and two RAID 1's.

Can the PV 221 be setup for 3 RAIDs?  RAID 0 - 2 disks, RAID 1 - 2 disks, and RAID 5 - 4 disks?

Thanks,
Ken

You must plan on splitting your RAID group across the two sides of the PV221S, right?  There are 7 disks on a side when you split the backplane.  Otherwise you could use joined bus mode (a switch setting).   Did you order a PERC4/DC to go with it to connect to your server?

I was trying to figure out over the weekend whether to order one PERC4/DC or two.  Would it be a significant performance increase to split 221 with two controllers?   That was my original thought.

I would recommend against a raid 0, even if the data is not very relevant. The reason is that if a drive were to fail, having to unbind and rebind the virtual drive can be a bit of a hassle. It's so much easier to buy 1 more drive and go raid 5, or buy 2 more drives and go raid 10.

That does make sense.  I'll go with the RAID 5 instead of 0.
