PowerVault MD3000 Storage High Availability Solution

Hi,

I have two PowerVault MD3000 Direct Attached Storages which i wanted to use it for Hyper-V cluster. I would like to have storage level high availability.

Is there any way to achieve this? Possible to create RAID5 with disks across DAS boxes by cascading or something?

Thanks.

The 2 arrays are not able to 'work together', so you'll have to look at some kind of solution that is based on software or some kind of solution that goes in between the hosts and the SANs. I've seen solutions for fiber channel, and I'm pretty sure they exist for iSCSI, but you'll have to dig a bit to see if they exist for SAS.

As for software solutions, I wouldn't recommend dynamic disk mirroring, but that you could check out doubletake to see if it would meet your needs.

Datacore - SanMelody or Falconstor-NSS will do this and a lot more.   At that point your basically virtualizing your storage.  But Cloud Storage is ubber cool stuff.  Datacore is fairly cheap unless you have a lot fo data like we do.
