Powerevault 224f

Can this array be used standalone or is it for expansion of an existing array? If it can, which raid controllers/Fiber controllers should I be using?

Thanks

The PowerVault 224F was designed as an expansion array behind a PowerVault 660F and works with FC-AL protocol.  However, you can try direct connecting to your host Fibre Channel HBA (QL2200, I recall).  You will not have hardware RAID capabilities and each of your disks will appear separately in your O/S.

Thanks for the reply, Actually I added an ICP vortex fiber channel raid controller and it works fine in a raid 5 configuration. All 14 disks in one HUGE raid5 volume. The 224f will function as a standalone array.

Thanks again
