Powervault 124T

Just bought 30 tapes from dell (Brand=Dell). Whenever I run a backup the 124T give an error - TA[06]-WriteFailure. When I try with other (older tapes) TDK and Sony there is no problem. Have I wasted my money buying Dell branded LTO 3 tapes.

I can't find any posts concerning taflag :emotion-14:. Any help will be appreciated

Wish I could help.

I am getting TAFlag errors and have submitted posts and getting no Dell replies. This is 2nd 124T we bought in 4-5 years that has failed.

My guide says to run extended diagnostics. What does that mean?

And BExec says to do a write test but I don't see how to do that neither on the 124T. Aaaaargh!

Download the firmware package from the support site and extract it, one of the folders is named utilities and in there is another folder diags and logs. this contains diagnotic programs for the 124t. Choose your version to install. You will need a scratch tape for the write tests.
