R420 w/ Dell 6gbps SAS HBA can't see Quantum Superloader 3 tape autoloader
R420 w/ Dell 6gbps SAS HBA can't see Quantum Superloader 3 tape autoloader. HBA shows up in BIOS, but when choosing 'SAS Topology' in the menus, it returns 'No device found'. HBA also shows up in Windows device manager, but tape library and tape drive do not. No link light on HBA. I've tried different cables and different slot on server, as well as trying a Dell H800 HBA - no joy. Any advice appreciated.

Hello eftsource,
What I would do is to go into the bios of the 6gb card & reset the card back to factory settings. Once that has been done then I would power on the autoloader & wait for it to come to an ready state. Once the autoloader is at a ready state then let the server boot & let it scan the SAS card during boot & see if it detects the autoloader. If the autoloader is seen then let the server boot into windows and you should see both the tape drive and the medium changer in device manger.
If the autoloader is still not being seen then you may need to check to make sure that there is no error on the unit & also make sure that that the unit is set to random & not sequential.
