RD1000 external USB

Hello, I would like to ask you a simple question: is the PowerVault RD1000 External USB3.0 fully compatible with a Dell PowerEdge R510?

This server is more or less 10 years old, and got no USB 3.0 ports. Is it possible to connect with one or two USB 2.0 ports?

Someone knows if the system works properly with BackupAssist software?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Dario,

You can connect your RD1000 to a USB 2.0 port & it will work.  Here is the link to the user’s guide and if you look on page 5 it shows the speeds that your RD1000 can run when connected to usb 2.0. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-rd1000_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf

I have worked with customer that use backup assist with their RD1000.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I didn't find the server compatibiliy list for the drive, can I buy it for a Dell PowerEdge R510 and it will work properly?

Thanks again.

Hello Dario,

The RD1000 will work when connected to a R510 server.  The server is older and that is why if you look at the current support matrix you are not seeing it listed. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/common/rd1000_lt05_lt06_lt07_lt08_114x_ml6000_tl1000_tl2000_tl4000_ml3_compatibility_matrix_en-us.pdf

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
