TL4000 Upgrade
Hello,
We have an TL4000 with 2 ULT3580-HH5 LTO-5 Drives.
Currently we have one machine controlling the library.
It's possible to upgrade the TL with 2 more drives, create another library and have two machines controlling the TL with individual libraries?
If so, i need some sort of license to do this upgrade or the simple act of inserting the new drives make this possible?
Another question: how do i search for this drives? On the Dell store i was not able to find it.
Thanks

you would need to partition the library and assign two drives to one partion and 2 to another.
The manual should explain it well enough.
not sure you can buy new LTO5's anymore so you may have to buy second hand.

Thanks for your response.
I'll try to find some drives.
Do you know if i need some sort of license upgrade from dell to enable it, or if it just works?
Thanks again.

Hello Brosig,
You don’t need a license to add 2 more drives to your TL4000. You might need a license for your backup software to add the new drives. Once you have the drives all you will need to do is to run a firmware update so that the new drives will be seen by the library.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
