CPU jumps to life and dies.
Hello everyone,
I just got my Precision 3430 delivered.
Now, whenever I turn on the power (by power I mean the main AC power. Not the CPU power button), the CPU (cabinet) jumps to life with lights glowing for about two seconds and then turns off. Nothing happens.
The machine actually boots up when I press the power button on the CPU.
Is this a problem that the CPU comes to life (without me pressing the power button on the CPU) and falls silent in two seconds? Or, is this normal?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @babon ,
Don't worry. It's a normal practice and happens to my T5600 as well.

That self power test is normal like bmcowboy said.
Just so you know, for clarification, CPU = Central Processing Unit (processor) and not "cabinet" or "power button." But you did get me to look at your post...
I think you meant "computer" in place of "CPU" in some instances. Or just say "power button" instead of "CPU power button," and we'll know what it is.

@bradthetechnutYour answer does not answer my question. Have a look at the first couple of lines from this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_case

The 1st line of my answer simply verifies bmcowboy's answer.
Even if it's not seen where it might occur, sorry for any confusion.
