Precision 5530 right-side USB3.1Gen1 port unstable with USB devices
I am about to call support but would like first to check if other Precision 5530 users here have the same problem:
My P5530 is only about 9 months old, but only lately I realized that the USB 3.1 Gen 1 port on the RIGHT side doesn't work well with USB 3.X devices: self- or externally-powered HDD or optical disks connected to it keep connecting/disconnecting (USB plug/unplug sound); USB 2 devices seem to work just fine (USB2 HDD or DVD reader, Audio device, mouse, etc.) on that same port.
By contrast, the USB 3.1 Gen 1 port on the LEFT side of the unit doesn't have any problem.
This leaves me with just one USB 3.1 port available for USB 3.X devices while on the go (at home I use a TB16).
This seems strange as from a logical connection (driver chain) pov, these two USB ports are identical.
It looks very similar to this issue: https://www.dell.com/community/Laptops-General-Read-Only/XPS-13-9350-SSD-on-USB-C-3-1-very-unstable-unusable/td-p/5061221 but unfortunately the fix described (lower Wi-Fi power, or even turning it off) does NOT help here.
My P5530 is fully up-to-date (BIOS, drivers, Windows) and the problem is independent from the power source (battery of power supply); enabling/diabling powershare has no influence either.
Design limitations ? Driver issue ? or is my unit malfunctioning ?

Hmmm
The MB has been replaced back in August 19 to address this problem....and now it is there again !
Is anyone else seeing trouble with USB3.1Gen1 / (USB 3.0 SS) devices on the right-hand USB port of the 5530 ?

Have the same problem three years later...or I just realized this problem. I always plug my logitech mouse receiver on the right-side USB port, so I never notice this issue till I plugged a USB 3.1G1 U-disk on it.it won't work properly. Device Manager would present a USB Mass Storage but no disk icon in the explorer. Tried several USB3.1 Devices, all malfunctioned. Very upset about this problem.

It's possible that other Precision 5530 users on the forum may have experienced a similar problem with the USB 3.1 Gen 1 port on the right side of the unit not working well with USB 3.X devices. By checking the forum, the user may be able to find solutions or workarounds that others have discovered. The user's unit may have a design limitation or a driver issue, but it's also possible that the unit is malfunctioning. The user should contact support to troubleshoot the issue and explore possible solutions, and can mention any relevant information they found on the forum to help narrow down the cause of the problem.
