Dell 928/A928 black ink cartridge problem.
For some reason, my black ink cartridge won't print. The cartridge registers on my DELL computer (it says there's 60% black ink left) but when I print something black off, nothing appears on the printed page. The colour cartridge works fine.

tj25,
Power the printer on. Open up the printer and take out the Black Dell ink cartridge. Make sure there is no tape on it and reseat the Dell ink cartridge. Now do the same for the Color Dell ink cartridge. When you close the printer, it should print an alignment page on its own. Any error messages?
How old is the Black ink cartridge? Can you please tell me the series number of the cartridge?
Try start, control panel, printers, printer preferences, advanced, more options and make sure the complete-a-print boxes are not checked.

If I take the ink cartridges out and put them back in again will they work because someone told me that you can't take ink cartridges out and then put them back in again because they don't work afterwards?

tj25,
I have very little information on the 928 Printer. I tried to look at the online manual but it's har to find things. On All the other printers, and I have a 964 Printer, I can take out the cartridge, wipe it and examine it and put it back in with no problems. I cannot even locate any replacement ink cartridges on Dell Website for this printer.
Can you copy something by putting it under the glass? B&W and color? This will tell you if it's the printer or the drivers.
You can try using this...

Since you know the error code, this will walk you through troubleshooting the problem.
