Dell C2665 - Sent Fax Forward - E-mail ONLY
Hi,
is there a way to Forward a Fax to an E-mail without printing the page?
I found a new firmware but the only option available is still "Print and E-mail"...
Thanks
Omar

Hello Omar,
Thank you for the feedback and I can definitely understand the concern of a feature change. When moving from our mono to color printers they use different process engines so some of the feature sets are different than you may be used to. We do have the feature available within the mono style of printers. The unit that replaced the 1815dn, is the 2375dn and it is cheaper by at least $100. As well your consumables are going to much cheaper to replace.
I would recommend contacting your sales rep or customer care to see if your eligible for return if this is a prominent feature that you need. As for it being added to a future firmware update I do not foresee it being added sine the forward to server option is already in place, but I will forward your feedback to our engineering team for review.
Regards,
Joseph E

Hello Omar,
Unfortunately this model does offer support for email only when fax forwarding. The best option for you to use and probably a little easier to manage is setting up forward to server, using the SMB protocol. This puts the file in a PDF format on a designated folder you create.

Hi Joseph,
this is a workaround but I still do not understand why you did that. We had a Dell 1815 for years doing the right job, Fax to Email with no printing at all. Now it stopped working and I asked to my Dell printer advisor for any similar model and he came back with the C2665. I trusted him but... this is not what I wanted, also quite expensive.
It would be great if you add the option on the next firmware release.
Regards
Omar

Joseph,
This FAX to email feature (without printing) is a pretty standard feature in other COLOR printers. HP, Brother, Lexmark, Xerox, just to name a few. To not add this most basic option that causes your customers extra expense, does not seem like a good way to get your existing customers to upgrade from Black and White to Color.
I have a number of customers who use this feature on your B/W printers, and will NOT be recommending your printers for their upgrades because of this.
I hope your engineering team listens to it existing customers, before you loose them to a company that does.

The should release a firmware update! It should not be so hard... come on it is just 1 more line of code.
In my company we have all DELL but I am thinking to move away from them at least for printing. Now I am buying HP printers instead!!!
