New Dell C1760 color laser causes power dips
I have had a couple of Laser printers over the years (my last being an HP color laser) and never seen anything like this. When the printer cycles on the lights in the house flicker and my UPS switches on and off. It does this until it goes back to sleep. Is it really this power hungry?
My house is hardly new and maybe not up to current electrical standards, but WOW!
The printer prints fine, but I don't know if I can live with it doing this. I'm also not sure its safe for other electronic items in the house.
A side question. Do the Dell printer tools only work when it's connected via USB? It prints fine over Ethernet, but the tools fail to connect unless I connect it via USB.

Hi Eddie_bowers,
Thanks for posting. Apologies that your printer is not performing as expected.
Here is some information from the service manual you may find helpful:

Did you ever resolve this? I just received my C1760nw and I'm experiencing the exact same thing. My lights flicker and both of my UPS are cycling. This is very unusual. I've never seen a device do this to my electrical circuits.

The inrush current requirement along with the large spikes in watts required during a print cycle or fuser reheat can cause the type of issue you are experiencing.
Do you have the printer connected to a surge protector, power strip or the UPS that you are using? It could be the way your wiring is set up too, unbalanced ring circuits can have issues with laser printers.
Thanks,
