PRINTING PROBLEM - URGENT

For some reason I can no longer connect to my printer - or reinstall it.  I have been getting a variety of messages which in summary tell me that The print spooler service is not running. Can anyone help me?

Dell technical department can't help me - can anyone out there????

You should also use this board on external devices such as printers

Click start>run
Type in: services.msc
Click OK

When the list appears, make sure Print Spooler is set to 'automatic'. If it is, then exit without changing anything.

If it's set to automatic, then try a system file check to repair missing/corrupt system files:
Click start>run
Type in: sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /)
Click OK

sfc will scan and replace damaged system files. It may ask for your XP installation CD.

I tried taking these steps, but when I try to add a printer I get the response- The printer spooler is not running, and when I try to restart it in services, I get the error message Error 3: System can't find the specified file. Any suggestions?
