Unable to connect one laptop to printer over home wireless network, while the other laptop connects just fine
Please help! I have two Dell laptops, both running Windows 7. One of the laptops (a Dell Latitude E6420) has no problem connecting to my Canon MX922 multifunction printer over my home wireless network (Cisco DPC3825 router/modem). But when I try to set up the printer on my Dell XPS (also running Windows 7) using the same setup criteria as on the other laptop, it keeps telling me it cannot connect to the network.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I ran the Network Interface program on the XPS, and it reported:

I have an article that may help, bit it's for Windows 8. Windows 8 may not be able to connect to some Cisco routers
It's strange to have one system connecting and the other not. What virus program and firewall are you using on the problem system? Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.
I was going to suggest trying WPA/WPA2 PSK(TKIP) Security(Personal). You would have to remove the printer from the working system and reinstall the printer as a new installation. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.

Hi Rick! Thanks so much for responding! I checked the article you mentioned, but it doesn't appear to apply to my situation specifically -- especially since it deals with Windows 8.
I have PCMatic, and PCMagnum for virus control, etc. on the Dell XPS. No firewall that I know of. I ran Finding System Information and stripped out the Prod ID and Reg Owner. Here is the output:

I was having the issue with both laptops, but got the connection to work with my Dell E6420 after I uninstalled the printer and re-installed it on the Printers and Devices window. I tried the same tactic with my Dell XPS, but am still having the same issue.

I would try setting up the printer again, using the problem system.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Start, control panel, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
On the printer, usually under settings, there should be an option to reset the printers wireless adapter back to factory.
Then install the printer like you did when your first purchased it. After you install the drivers(using the printer disk or the drivers from Canon's website) it should prompt you to connect the printer(powered on) it should then ask for your network SSID and password. Make sure the password is at least 13 characters.
Virus programs and firewalls will block communications. I do not have any information on the two virus programs you mentioned. You should only use 1 virus program as they usually conflict with each other causing issues like this. It's ok to use a virus program and Malwarebytes of other malware removal program, just not use two virus programs.
You may want to remove your virus programs and see if the printer works. If it works,then one or both of the virus programs are the problem.
