V525 aligns print heads each time printer is switched on

Have 2 yr old printer V525w.  In last couple of months it's been running 'align print heads' every time it is powered on.  I'm running up quite a bill on ink cartridges.  Also have print jobs that print a blank page - running "deep clean" seems to clear that up.  Note:  printer is not used very much - it may be turned on 2-3 times per month - but when I do want to print hardcopy it's because I really need a hardcopy - not 45 minutes of aligning, deep cleaning, running to store for another cartridge, an so on....

Any suggestions?
