MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage Installation Prompt Error

So I have this recurring prompt.  Everytime I turn on my computer, it starts to install this (via Windows Installer) and it asks me for the XP pro w/ Frontpage CD.

I've already installed this and my frontpage already works.  How do i get it to stop trying to install everytime i reboot?

It started after I tried clicking on "New Office Document" on the Start bar.

I'm pretty tech savvy, but I just cant figure it out.

(BTW, i misplaced that CD so i can't even reload it....)

Thanks guys!

Re: MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage Installation Prompt Error

I guess my next question would be 'how to disable/edit any windows installers that are in process?'

so i add/removed frontpage, unticked frontpage and now it's still running the windows installer (it went through all the motions of uninstalling it).

anyone?  is there another area of the forum this should be in?

thx!

Re: MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage Installation Prompt Error

I don't have a direct solution to your problem. It seems as if some key in the registry is wrongly telling the installer to start.

A first step in diagnosing would be to get Windows Installer to create a log file. That might give info on what/why it is doing this:

Also

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click on W scroll down to Windows Installer, there are several entries there, including cleanup utility, which you can download from number 84 right hand column of

Re: MS Office XP Professional with FrontPage Installation Prompt Error

OK MAJOR breakthrough.  After giving up and living with the installer prompting me everytime i booted up, i did some research and found this in the startup menu:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE" -b -l

What the heck is this?  I removed it from the startup (which i never put there) and now it stopped doing it.

Also, i figured out this thing does the same thing when i click on 'new office document' in the start up menu.

Hmmmm.  Do I need this startup command?  What is it for?  How did it get there?

Much thanks for any comments!
