Converting from Lotus Organizer 4.1 to Outlook 2003

Organizer is such a nice program - looks cool, easy to use. I feel for you when having to change.

I did a conversion from Organizer to Outlook last year. I don't remember having any major problems. So, there must be something that Outlook doesn't like. If possilbe, would you list the steps you're going through? (I know it will take some time to write)

Maybe I'll have a suggestion.

OK...here's the steps I took.  And I should say that I have tried a few various combinations of things as well...

First I have opened both Lotus Organizer 4.1 and Outlook 2003, to make sure they both are working, etc.  From within Outlook, I clicked on 'file' and then, 'import and export', then I selected the choice "import from another program or file."  I clicked on "Next" at the bottom of that winddow.  Then I selected "Lotus Organizer 4.x" from the list of file to import data from, and "next." 

Then I browsed to find my data file (I have done it both from the main location, in the Lotus folder, and have also made a copy of the file and placed it on my Desktop, with no discernable difference in using either method).  I also choose the Option of replace duplicates (since the very first time I did it, some data partially came over OK...)  And hit "Next".

The very first, and a few times after that, I left all the sections of my file listed as Outlook had them suggested... (i.e. Imprt Calendar into Calendar, ToDo into Tasks, etc, with Address going int Contacts, etc.)  The first time I did it I did not Map anything, I just went with whatever Outlook's program had selected.  However on subsequent trials, I have mapped everything from the Lotus file, and dragged it to the preferred field in the Outlook side of the slpit window.  (The last time I did this, I only mapped (and worked on) the Address section as the other sections seem to have transferred reasonable well.  (It seems that the problem with my anniversaries, is OK in Outlook on my notebook, I just have to make sure that it stays that way when it syncs with my Amin PDA.)

The curious thing I noticed is that when I am in the Mapping portion of the process, below the "from side" for the window, the Lotus Organizer side, there are two buttons below the window section for "previous" and "next".  After I mapped all the fields, I clicked on the Next button.  And what showed was what seems to be one of my records for a Doctor from my Address book.  If I hit Next again, then I get info(or the record) for a former co-worker.  Next again, seems to bring up the same list of Field names that were shown intially when I went to this screen.  Continued clicking on "next" just seems to cycle thru these three (and ONLY 3) record selections... 

IS THAT WHERE THE PROBLEMS IS???  Why don't I see other records here?  Am I suppose to see all of my records from my Organizer file or what?  (The tech rep from MicroSoft that I spoke with today, didn't seem to know.  He just kept saying that 'there my be something wrong with the "other program" ...  Of course!!  It could NEVER be a problem with the Microsoft program, could it!!??  (Sorry, about the sarcasim. )

Anyway, After mapping is done, I click "OK" the click on the "Finish" button.  And watch what happens.  It takes quite a while, to transfer calendar data, but it just flies through the Address/Contacts section in a flash.  Of course, that's because it's only 'grabbing' two records from my entire Address Book. 

That's about all I've done.  A few times already, with minor variations.  I tried to Export the data file out from Lotus, but it only gives me the option to export it in two types of ".TXT" files (ASCII Delimited, or ANSI), or two types of "DBF" files (dBase or FoxPro).  So far, these haven't proved usefull to me...
