Hal.dll Missing/corrupt when tyring to use Dell MediaDirect.

Hi,
I have Dell Inspiron E1405 notebook. I had to partition my hard disk, which resulted in formatting the disk. After installing Windows XP, I installed Media Direct software through the CD, which I had asked from Dell. Also created a partition of 4GB for it. The Media direct software got installed properly, but when pressed the Media Direct button, it gave an error message "System32>Hal.dll missing/corrupt. Reinstall the software or restart the computer". I tried fixing the problem by using the Dell MediaDirect Repair Utility given on the Dell website ( drivers and downloads). But I am still getting the same error message.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? Please help.

The hal.dll file can be easily restored from the original hal.dll file in the Windows XP installation CD. Although the process of recovering hal.dll from Windows XP CD is simple and less time-consuming, it must be done accurately for appropriate results.
