Messageapp message stuck on desktop

I have a message titled Messageapp on my desktop at startup.  The body of the message is Dell ! Alert Version 1.  I can not get this message deleted from my desktop the application does not even show in Task Manager.  What is going on?  What is this susposed to do?  Why is it stuck on my desktop?   How do I get this annoyance off my desktop

BILLWH,

* Does this issue also occur in safemode? If not, some software running in the background in normal mode is the culprit.

* Restart the computer
* At the first beep (older systems) or on the blue Dell screen (new systems), tap the F8 key (do not hold it down)
* At some point, the Advanced Options menu will appear
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [Hit the Enter Key]
* Windows will start in Safe Mode. Close any boxes that may open, just get to the desktop

Come on  This message shows with a Dell Inc copyright notice....   If Dell does not recognize it and know what to do about it, why is it carrying a Dell copyright notice....  Please check around Dell and tell me what is going on, please.

A Friend of mine is having the same problem - She wrote:

I keep getting a message on my laptop computer about every 3rd time I start it up....no way to close it, it just stays there until I turn it off again.  It says in a very small screen:

   Message App

   Dell Alert Version 1.0

   (C)opyright Dell 2000-2001

Any clue as to what this might be? It's been hapening for about a week now...

Anyone have a better explanation for this and how to remove it?

Thanks!!

I just got the same winodw for the first time today. What up.

Of course you can always close it by using ALT+F4 - no reboot required.

But why is it there in the first place?

Thanks

I did finally find an article on Dell's knowledge base about this...

Seems the Dell Support ver 1.0 is outdated.  There is a Ver 2 available for download, if you want it...

Uninstall Dell Support Ver 1 in Control Panel, the Add/Remove Programs...
