PowerPoint can't read the outline from

Here is the message I get when trying to open a Power Point document I have been working on for several weeks.

"PowerPoint can't read the outline from C:\ ... No text converter is installed for this file type".

I can't open it on the PC it was created on nor any other one.

I would think it was created in Office 2007 and you are trying to use and older version of office to open it that doesn't support some of the features, but you mention you cannot open it on the same PC it was created on, that seems to rule that out. Any chance you created this in Office 2007 and then downgraded to 2003?

But if it was created in office 2007 and you are trying to open it also in office 2007, then it is another problem. It is likely that the file is corrupted.

To resolve the above error message, follow the below mentioned steps:

1. Click File, then choose Save As.

2. Save the PowerPoint file at a new destination with the same or a new name.

In that case, if the file is corrupted severely, you will have to restore it from a backup. If no backup, then the only way to save him is to use the PPTX Repair Kit for pptx file repair.   http://www.pptx.repair/

This problem occurs because there's an issue with the styles. Powerpoint best imports outlines when the style is the default word heading 1 and heading 2 style. If you've made changes to the default, or by reason of a corruption in the file, the default settings aren't sticking, Powerpoint may have a problem importing the outline. To solve this:

1. Create a new blank Word Document.

2. Type two lines of text (anything), set one to Heading 1, and the other to Heading 2.

3. Copy Heading 1 into your outline in the end, and set the paste settings to keep source formatting. Highlight it, then go to the styles gallery and right-click Heading 1. Select the first option from the drop-down: Update Heading 1 to Match Selection.

4. Repeat the same step for Heading 2.

That's it! This should solve the issue.

In case it doesn't, copy the outline and paste into a new word document as text only and then repeat the above step, or clear all styles and apply them again.
