Dell 1610HD Video Quality - Dark picture!

I recently purchased this projector because my 4310wx finally died after 5 years. When looking online, I saw that the 4310wx model was out of Production?

Loved the 4310wx because of the quality and brightness, so I was looking online and saw that the 1610 model was offering similar specs at an affordable price.

Can someone tell me if this is true? I am loving the 1610HD model, but I feel like the blacks are fairly dark when watching Cable at 720p/1080i. Not sure if this is strictly made for Computers, but I had no issues with this on the 4310 model.

Just trying to understand if the two models compared or if 1610 was known for dark blacks. Or if this is a Cable box/connection issue?
