HDMI Port no longer detecting TV

Recently bought a DELL N5050 laptop with Windows 7 64-bit operating system. I use the HDMI port to watch movies on my LCD television. Tonight in the middle of the movie, the computer froze. So I restarted the computer but left the HDMI cable plugged in. When I restarted, it no longer could use the HDMI port. I have tried restarting the computer and turning the TV on/off. However no matter what I do, when I plug the HDMI cable into the laptop, it does not automatically detect that there is a device there. If I use Windows+P to select "Projector Only" I just get a "No Projector Detected" error. What can I do?
