Extra Copy LUN using Recoverpoint with VPLEX
Hi all,
I am struggling with the next question. According to an EMC document it looks like I need an extra copy LUN on top of the journal LUN. this seems to be inefficient and unnecessary in my opinium.
So why is this needed.
I asked th question in the Symmetrix group as well. I can not add an attachement in this question so provide a link

Hi Roy,
Looking at your topology diagram you have a VPLEX Metro and want to take a RecoverPoint PiT local copy of the DR1 at Site 2. In order to do this there are four device/volume requirements:
1. The VPLEX DR1(s).
2. Journal for the DR1(s) as these constitute the Production copy and each copy must have its own jounral.
3. The Recover PiT replica(s), i.e. the VPLEX local virtual volume(s).
4. Journal for the RecoverPoint replica(s) as these constitute the replica copy and each copy must have its own journal.
