RecoverPoint/SE direct attach

Connecting RPAs directly to CLARiiON/VNX has been supported for a while now, intended for iSCSI environments where there are no Fibre Channel switches. Would there be anything wrong with using RP direct attach in a FC environment? Case in point - a SMB customer who doesn't have enough free ports on their FC switches, but has extra FC ports on their new VNX-Block array.

Is anybody using this topology? Anything to watch out for?

This is from the RP Deployment Manager Guide:

Because it is still a non-standard install. Direct attached is referenced for iSCSI. Just to cover the bases it is recommeded to file an RPQ. I see no reason for it to be denied.

I do not see any reason this option would not work.  That being said you would need to RPQ this configuration.

Great, thanks for your feedback, Don. But why the RPQ? From what I can tell looking at current documentation, both dual fabric and direct attach topologies are supported at this point, although the dual-fabric is "recommended."
