You can but you shouldn't. EMC doesn't recommend SATA drives for the journal. RecoverPoint will not stop you from using it though

SATA drive characteristics are not suited by CDP technology i/o requirements, unless the environment you are running in has extremely low IOPs, which is rare.
Recommend FC for CX/VMAX, or SAS for VNX.
In higher IOPs environments, select R1/0 over R5.
