ERM VSS error conflicting providers on backup server

We have a Windows 2008 server with Replication Manager and Backup Exec 2010 R2 installed.

Each night a snapshot of a LUN connected to another server is mounted, and we use that snapshot to create a daily backup.

The backup completes successfully with the following exception:

(Server: "FILESRV2") (Job: "UV FRIDAY") The job completed successfully.  However, the following conditions were encountered:

A snapshot operation required by this job was unsuccessful. Check the job log and the Windows Event Viewer for additional information.

A call to EMC pointed the issue at the fact that two VSS providers were being used (image below).

To avoid this situation, my questions are these:

Since we are not using this server for replication purposes (EG, actual creation of a snap from a LUN), is there a way to disable the ERM VSS service on this server, without affecting normal Replication Manager operations?

Is there a work around so that the Microsoft VSS can do what it wants to do during the backup without conflicting with the ERM VSS, like pausing that service during know backup times and restarting after? Obviously we would need to do that programatically, task scheduler?

Thanks in advance for any input or ideas!
