ScaleIO licensing question
Does anyone understand what "non-production" means in terms of limits when EMC states "ScaleIO installations are enabled to be fully functional, for non-production environments". I am wondering if it means "up to X GB" for example (when you use in a lab) you will not need to buy license for it.
Thank you.
Leo.

Rob,
Unfortunately, this is not what it means.
You are correct in regards to support, however it also means you cannot use it to store your production data from any kind.
You can only install it for testing purposes.
If you have tested it and would like to use it, even if you don't need support, you have to buy the license.

There is no limitation whatsoever in terms of capacity.
'Free and Frictionless' (i.e unlicensed) means you can download ScaleIO with no function/capacity/time limits - but it comes with no EMC support, and only support from the online community. If you are going to use it for any use where you think you will need support in any way, buy the product.

Rob
