It does not apply to the Policy Manager - I see another note to be added to the document. The only ESRS requirement for the Policy Manager is to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP 2. The product will work with .NET Framework 3.5 but do not use 4.X as we've seen some issues there.

These issues are difficult to troubleshoot. A reboot of the Policy Manager server usually stops the messages. Thankfully, you won't have to deal with them once you are migrated to ESRS 2.

The last few messages are:

i don't have any unregisted devices, this is odd.

Unfortunately, it's a bit buggy. When are you going to be on ESRS 2? We could completely disable those messages if it gets too annoying.

Dynamox - have you received a return phone call yet to schedule the upgrade? Please let me know if you'd like an extra "push" to get it set up.

Since there are other dependencies, the software is not available for download. We are waiting on the licenses to be available in our systems and once that is done, the product can be installed. You do need to run the CECT program on each of the Gateway and Policy Manager servers and provide the log file to your local team so we can ensure the servers are ready for the product to be installed. The ESRS 2 product requires Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable program to be installed on the Gateway servers, so you can go ahead and do that.

Look at the "Configuring the ESRS 2 Gateway Client Server Prior to Installation" document I posted. You need to install IIS and the FTP and SMTP servers but not configure them. The Gateway client installer will auto-configure the two servers.

the document says:
This procedure does not apply to an ESRS Gateway client that will be migrated from ESRS 1 to ESRS 2
i am migrating from ESRS 1 to ESRS 2, onto brand new servers too.

Yes, I understand your configuration. I should amend that sentence to say This procedure does not apply to an ESRS Gateway client that will be migrated from ESRS 1 to ESRS 2 using the same hardware. This is technically a migration since you have an existing ESRS 1 configuration with devices to be migrated to ESRS 2. But it's also a new install since you are using new hardware. That document should guide you with the steps you need to complete. Actually, a migration is an uninstall of ESRS 1 and an install of ESRS 2.

makes sense. Your document applies to Policy Manager server as well ? I don't remember creating onalert/esrsconfig accounts in PM in ESRS 1
Thank you

James,
could you add a paragraph on how to install .Net in Windows 2008 R2, while it's not hard ..i had to google how to do it. Would be nice to have these instructions in one document.
Thanks

I'll do that. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is built into Windows 2008 (R1 and R2) so you wouldn't have to install anything. The Gateway product only supports .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 but I have seen no issues with 3.5. There are issues with 4.X so don't use that version and don't let Automatic Updates update you. We should open a new thread for any more issues not related to APM Logger messages.
