Dual ESRS Gateway server in single site
Hi
We have Unity All Flash (450F) & powermax arrays in one single site and need these to be managed by Centralized ESRS Gateway servers.
We are planning to have 2 dedicated VM's in the same site to act as Centralized ESRS Gateway servers - Believe this will be called as HA Dual ESRS Gateway servers (within same site) - 2 GW servers will be clustered in EMC ESRS infra.
I came across below statement with respect to Unity arrays in one of the Unity ESRS Guide :
The Centralized ESRS option in Unity does not support HA. This option does not provide a failover capability to an active HA ESRS VE Cluster. When the storage system is deployed to a single HA ESRS VE Gateway cluster server (the only configuration option available), there is no failover capability to the surviving HA ESRS VE Gateway server in the cluster. If the HA ESRS VE Gateway server to which the storage system is connected goes down, the storage system will stop transferring any outbound files, such as call home and CloudIQ files, to the Service Center. ESRS inbound connectivity (remote access) to the storage system will still function using the surviving HA ESRS VE Gateway server in the cluster.
Does this mean Unity will not work in the setup that I stated - 2 dedicated VM's in the same site to act as Centralized ESRS Gateway servers

Does it mean Unity will not failover from Dual ESRS servers in Site A and Dual ESRS servers in Site B - so 2 in site A + 2 in site B ?

Unity can send dial home file to only single ESRSVE instance if you setup with External ESRSVE, not Embedded one.
This is the restriction of call home method that uses REST API.
In callhome by REST API, it uses a kind of ID, that is so-called device key.
This ID can be related to only single instance of ESRSVE so no matter how many ESRSVE you have, it must be SPOF for dail home from unity.
Some kind of improvement/enhancement is in progress but not now.
AFAIK VxRail has overcome this restriction, it means VxRail can failover dial home path from one external ESRSVE instance to another.
