ESM Host VirtualizedByVM missing
Discovering an ESXi with multiple VM from IP-Manager does not produce the same result in ESM. Some Hosts are not linked to the VM Object. Does someone have an idea what exactly is relevant for this relation to be build?

Hi aescrob,
You need to discover the ESXi server and VMs as hosts in Smarts IP and then sync Smarts IP with Smarts ESM.
ESM imports ESXi host objects from the IP Availability Manager during topology sync. ESM connects to the VirtualCenter through the VMware API to discover ESXi servers and VMs. For each VM, the Server Manager creates a VM instance and associates it with the ESXi instance of the appropriate host system.
To monitor the ESXi and virtual machines, ESM subscribes to events from the IP Availability Manager. These events provide
status of the physical ESX hosts and virtual machines. The ESM calculates the impact of physical host failure on the virtual machines and reports the results of its analysis to the Global Manager.
Please see page 37 of the ESM User and Configuration guide for details on VM discovery and monitoring:

Thanks Paul -
what i relized now is, that 'SNMP Probe for VM Discovery' must be enabled to create this link between Host & VM. My example was about Cisco UCS-C without vCenter. Becaus after disabeling this i got no links at all.
by the way, the first KB URL is not found and the second i am not authorized for
