EX Directed Search Access Rights - using Group?

Hello,

Instead of placing a User account in the Directed Search Access Rights we would like to place a Universal Distribution Group and add/remove HR personnel as needed when they need to perform searches.

Will a group work here?  If not, what else could we do?  We don't want to leave an active user account in here.
