Help - Upon system boot, just after Windows is initialzing screen, my XPS drops to a Stop blue screen

*** STOP: 0x000000C2 (0x00000043, 0xParameter_2, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
BAD_POOL_CALLER

Parameter 2 changes with each attempt.

Microsoft help on how to decipher Stop: 0x000000C2 does not list parameter 1 of 0x00000043

Safemode fails in the same way
Restore to previous good state also fails

Full rack of diagnotics reveals no hardware errors

Have maintained autoupdate of Windows, likewise with Norton viruse check, etc.

Am I toast well chared?

Hi Dgrossyler,

Well my friend, for now lets just say you are "smoking around the edges".
Usually this error message would be better served if you posted it in the Dimension-General Hardware board, rather than in the Dimension-CD/DVD drives. However since many times the Stop errors can be traced to hardware, lets see if we an take your optical drives out of the equation. With the system off, open the case and disconnect the drive(s) from the IDE cable; leaving them off, reboot the system, are you still getting the errors?
If you are still getting the error, then
here is a good link our Regulars post from time to time on Stop error messages.

http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm

See if anything there will help, then consider posting on the General Hardware board.
If the error stops and Windows load normally, you may have a bad drive, or an IDE cable, then we will try a few steps to trouble shoot optical drives.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.
