Alienware M17 - not recognizing one hard-drive intermittently.
Hi,
I own an Alienware M17 with a 128 GB msata SSD ( which is the OS drive) + 2 500-gb HDD.
Intermittently, the system refuses to recognize one of the 500 GB Hard drive ( it is a WDC 5000 model).
If I reboot the machine, it will start 'seeing' the HDD again.
I ran the PSA and it detected no issues. Same thing with the dell diagnostics also.
Is anyone having the same problem ?

Hi psyche007,
Is the drive spinning down during idle periods? When it disappears, do you still see it in device manager? How about disk management?

Hi Osprey,
This seems to be happening when I am using the drive - for eg when listening to music or playing games installed on this drive.
When it disappears, it does not come up in device manager. I have not checked disk mngment - I will check and let you know the next time it happens.
